Elon Musk’s X Faces Multiple Outages Across the U.S., U.K., and India

Elon Musk’s social media platform, X—formerly known as Twitter—experienced multiple service disruptions on Monday, affecting thousands of users across the U.S., U.K., and India.

Widespread Outages

According to outage tracking website Downdetector.com, the first major outage resulted in over 21,000 reports from the U.S. and 10,800 from the U.K. The platform appeared to be back online around 2:30 a.m. PT, after approximately 45 minutes of downtime. However, later in the day, another outage occurred, with over 8,000 incidents reported at 6:45 a.m. PT. While service was restored within 45 minutes, it went down again briefly just minutes later.

Regional Impact

Downdetector recorded nearly 18,000 reports of disruptions in the U.S., 10,000 in the U.K., and 2,000 in India. In the U.S., 57% of affected users experienced app-related issues, 34% reported website problems, and 9% faced server errors. Similarly, in the U.K., 61% encountered app issues, 34% had website difficulties, and 5% reported server errors.

In India, the impact was relatively lower, with around 2,600 reports at the peak of the outage. Among affected users, 80% had trouble accessing the website, 11% faced login issues, and 9% experienced mobile app disruptions.

Service Restoration & Unclear Causes

The outage in India began around 3:20 p.m. IST, quickly escalating to over 19,000 global reports. However, by 3:45 p.m., service was restored, allowing users to regain access to the platform.

Despite the widespread disruptions, X has not issued an official statement explaining the cause of the outages. The simultaneous failures across multiple countries remain unexplained, leaving users uncertain about the platform’s stability.
